Publication day

Today marks the end of five years research, hard work, yes, but a labour of love as well.

The occasion was marked by a trip to the dentist(!), a telephone interview with a local radio station and a trench song sing-a-long. Not quite the gliterati launch party at the swanky London offices of a publisher you imagine when you set out on the road to be an author.

But no matter. What matters is the book, the story, the need to be true to the men who helped create the great, lasting legacy that are the Great War's military cemeteries. Men, in other words, who served their King and Country first with a rifle, then a shovel.
